Change The Norm

Filed under: Uncategorized — Eric L. Peterson @ 12:11 PM

Hey everyone. So I got a question.

About how many of you make a conscious effort to make the world better in some way throughout the day? No. I’m not asking you if you have campaigned to rid the plague of fake reality shows like Jersey Shore, or even if you have found a way to reduce traffic on I-290…no. I’m asking if you have been courteous to someone who didn’t deserve it. I’m asking if you have said something encouraging to a co-worker or someone who looked like they just found out their Mom passed away…what if she did? I’m asking if you have bought a tank of gas for someone, cleaned a friend’s car, make a meal for friends, help someone you know is in need. NO. this is not guilt. This is a call people. common. bring it.

The LOVE of a believer is a powerful thing. We have been given life by Christ. We CAN change the way that others see us. PEOPLE OUT THERE, do NOT see Christians as loving, helping, caring, compassionate, hopeful, decent people. A Ripple, is started by one drop. Lets make ripples people. common. bring it.

Love you all. Prayers always.

LOVE This Christmas

Filed under: Uncategorized — Eric L. Peterson @ 10:23 PM

So my good friend Debbie Leslie brought up a website the other day that knocked me out of my socks. The SOUL PURPOSE of this website is to display the needs of people in YOUR area this Christmas season. I promise you this: If I was out of school, had the money, and back-up (people to help), I would go one-by-one on this list making peoples dreams come true. What better way to spend Christmas, than to give the TRUE meaning back to people. God gave HIS son to us…I want to give LOVE (God is Love), back to these people.

Common people. bring it. LOVE is the most un-selfish gift that we can give to the people around us this Christmas. I feel like making some people’s worlds this year. I am not suer why, but I just feel the urge to help, give, and be reckless. I wanted to tell you about this so that maybe you would catch…whatever I have going on right now. Make someone’s year by helping them out today. Love you all. Peace

Your Love is a Song

Filed under: Uncategorized — Eric L. Peterson @ 10:44 AM

Hello people, how you doin?

I haven’t made a post in a while. Part of it has been because I have been busy, but another big part of it is that my walk has been not so great. This morning I went to Jericho Park and stood at the waters edge for the better part of the morning. The reason I was there was to wait upon the Lord. (Psalm 37:34) I wasn’t going to move from that spot until I heard the Lord. I stood there, praying, talking, listening, clearing my mind. I was there with purpose and it was to seek the heart of the Lord.

If you know me, it’s probably a “me” that I have let you see. There is a “me” that is dark, deep, and dirty. If we are honest, there is something within ourselves that is hard to let others see.

But God’s love is a symphony….
I love that song that Switchfoot made. It speaks volumes about His love. His love is ultimately the thing that can clean any situation.

I desperately desire to have the heart of the Lord. I desire to have the integrity, the purity, the honesty, and the peace from sin. To live without sin is a beautiful life. We know because of what Christ did for us. His life was without sin. Christ was able to love enemies, help widows, do miracles, and walk with God day-in and day-out. This is my desire. This was why I was as the waters edge. I wanted Him to meet me in that place.

If you are in this place…a place where you feel worthless, or lost, or in need for his Love…seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added unto you. You’ve probably heard this before, and I could tell you incredible stories of men that I know who sought the kingdom, and things started happening, or tell you my stories of glory when I sought the kingdom and started getting blessed by God…but in the end…you need to believe it. Seek the kingdom, serve the church, help the helpless, give till it hurts, share the gospel…and all things will be added unto you.

About nine months back, I was let go from my job. It was a good job and I love it. It payed well and I had good benefits. For a while, I tried to get a job, then gave up. My walk with the Lord started to spiral out of control and I became consumed in myself and schoolwork. One thing remained constant. I served in my church. We began to grow and have our own building. I came early every week to help set-up, take-down, and even run visuals for video and slide work. I offered any time I had to make sure the church grew. We did service projects, I helped with video intros and editing their material. I even continued to do this when the hardest year of my school career was undergoing and I was also involved in an internship. This is not a bragging fest. Hear me out. One night a week back, I got an email from Steve, lead pastor at The Edge. He wanted to take me to dinner to talk about some church stuffs and even something for me. We ate dinner and Steve started talking. He said he had an opportunity for me to become a staff member in the church and get paid to do video and visuals at The Edge Church. I would be getting paid more than my old job and doing what I already do for free. Steve told me that he wouldn’t have offered this to me if I wanted to get paid, it was the fact that I was doing it out of the willingness of my heart and to bless the church that I was being offered payment for my services. Last night I had a dinner with Tony Woodall, speaking pastor at The Edge. We began talking about my insecurities as a Husband and Father (of which I am neither, it was for discussion purposes). Tony told me a story that would knock you out. It was spurred from one verse. “Seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added unto you.” The context of this verse is Jesus telling his disciples not to worry about what you eat or what you wear…the gentiles worry about these things. Seek the kingdom…and I will take care of you. It was right then that an explosion happened in my brain. THINK ABOUT THIS. I never realized it while it was happening, but because of my faithfulness with the church, and seeking the kingdom FIRST, because I was seeking the kingdom of God, He decided to bless me and take care of my needs. I now have a paid position at my church and it is the biggest answered prayer in a long time.

Seek the kingdom FIRST, and the other areas of life (money, food, clothing, shelter, employment, sickness, your walk with Christ) will be taken care of. Learn this now, not later.
